Beyond the News

BOOM!

Consumers are expected to spend a record $2.5 billion on fireworks this year as America celebrates its 250th birthday. Washington, DC’s July 4th celebration typically includes 60-85,000 aerial shells and effects, but this year was planned to be 10 times as big: 850,000 shells from 10 sites along the National Mall and Potomac, breaking the prior Guinness World Record of 810,904 fireworks set in the Philippines in 2016.
